Our event is all about educating the public and giving them the tools to improve their waste profile, therefore increasing their own pride in improving our environment.
It is clear that many people want to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle, and they realise that they need to reduce their waste footprint, but they don’t know where to begin and are generally daunted by seeing people who are already successfully doing this with minimum waste. The event is aimed at anyone who is concerned about our environment but is uncertain how to get started and those who are already on the journey and want to learn about whatever is happening in their community now.
The event should create a greater knowledge of the council’s long term waste minimisation plan and the public’s part in that. The outcome would be a visible reduction in all household waste including solid waste and recycling.
It is clear that TCC is working towards a reduced solid waste programme, and that will be amended as public involvement and technology change over time.
Reducing our reliance on landfills is exactly what this event is aimed at.
